Tamara Drewe

Intelligently titillating, Tamara Drew hides its smarts under a hedgerow of filth. Unassuming, undeniably fun.

Going the Distance

Drew and Justin make sparks fly in this natural, likeable movie. Unlike most rom-coms this year, Going the Distance is worth making the trip to see.

The Last Exorcism

The Last Exorcism blends belief, doubt and humour to produce some seriously scary cinema. Until the dubious ending.

On the Carpet: Going the Distance

We run amok at the premiere with Justin Long and Drew Barrymore...

The Switch

Ill-conceived but entertaining, the year's second sperm donor rom-com leaves no embarrassing stains.

Scott Pilgrim vs the World

Mature, childish and one of the most energetic things ever put on celluloid, Scott Pilgrim speaks to its audience. It says words like: Love. Life. Nintendo. And Canada.

The Girl who Played with Fire

The Girl who Played with Fire slightly dampens expectations, but Rapace's fiery heroine stops the thriller fizzling out.

Brief Encounters: The Last Exorcism

We chat to director Daniel Stamm and producer Eli Roth about religion, possession & bashing cats to death.

An Education: Cinema's Top Syllabus

With kids back to school and education funding cut, what's the best way to educate your child? Cinema.

Salt

With its ballsy female hero and well-paced hokum, Salt is a high-octane burst of pure nonsense. Sequel please.

Bad Science

With The Human Centipede in cinemas, our own Dr Pearson asks if Hollywood’s evil scientists have ever been 100% accurate.

A Link to the Past

Loved Scott Pilgrim's retro soundtrack? Here's Hollywood's best music, 8-bit Nintendo style.

Leicester Square turned blue last night for the world premiere of Going the Distance, a rom-com that sees wannabe journalist Drew Barrymore and record company desk-monkey Justin Long hook up in New York and then keep the relationship going from opposite sides of the States.

Travelling all the way to London to show off their likeable movie, Justin and Drew strutted their stuff on the blue carpet (sexy photos are over here in our gallery). Joining the two leads were co-star Oliver Jackson-Cohen, director Nanette Burstein and the movie's unsigned band The Boxer Rebellion. And we were there to shout questions at all of them. Especially Justin Long - whose favourite movie soundtracks apparently include The Princess Bride and Back to the Future.

There's nothing like a long distance relationship with Drew Barrymore. Or Justin Long. There's nothing like a close-up relationship, either, which is why we've assembled the sexiest and shiniest photos from last night's world premiere of Going the Distance.

Sporting a bright blue carpet, Leicester Square saw stars Drew and Justin stroll down the carpet past hordes of screaming fans, accompanied by unsigned band The Boxer Rebellion, co-star Oliver Jackson-Cohen and director Nanette Burstein.

A film about travelling miles to see that someone special, the stars were smiling after their long flight to the UK. Want to know what they were wearing? Wondering if the blue brought out the colour in Justin's eyebrows? Well, wonder no more folks - sample the delights of ET's finest leading lady and Dodgeball's wimpiest male, together for the first time. Professionally. Phwoar.

Fans lined up along Leicester Square last night to greet Angelina Jolie at the premiere of her latest film, Salt. The actress, who stars in the part famously written for Tom Cruise, smiled as she signed things for the crowds gathering around London's glamourous black carpet.

Salt, an action thriller now with a female lead, sees Jolie arrested for being a Russian spy, despite years of CIA service. On the run and trying to prove her innocence, she faces a slight problem: the more stuff she blows up, the guiltier she looks.

It's a topical subject thanks to recent events, not to mention a physically demanding part, but Jolie was happy to take up the challenge:

"I've done a lot of action movies, but I hadn't done one based in reality..." she explained, as fans shrieked in the background and men threw undergarments at her. Ok, so maybe the last bit's not true.

Like your action stars female and woman-like? Then check out the photos below of Angelina strutting her stuff up and down the black carpet. And, while you're at it, read on for a sexy video of the whole thing too.

Salt is released in cinemas on Wednesday 18th August.

Sylvester Stallone blew away Leicester Square last night with his butch face, sweaty arms and grunting vocal talents. No, he wasn't out for a birthday steak with his mates - it was the UK premiere of The Expendables.

Packed full of action (and as many action stars as you can mention - except for Steven Seagal), it sees Stallone pair up with Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Bruce Willis, Steve Austin and Arnold Schwarzenegger. And some of them were around to swagger down London's red carpet.

Statham and Lundgren entertained the crowds, along with producer Avi Lerner, but it was all about Sly really: "He knows what he's doing and he knows how to get the best out of someone," enthused The Stath, all big shades and no hair. And if that's the kind of man that turns you on, then our sexy premiere video footage is just what your Tuesday afternoon needs.

The Expendables is out on Thursday 19th August. Our review will be online soon, but in the meantime, check out the trailer over here, or read on to see all the explosive red carpet action.

Yes, the intriguing spy story of Alexander Litvinenko, who was poisoned by Polonium 210 in 2006, is being made into a movie. By Mike Newell - the guy who brought us Four Weddings and a Funeral. Newell is working on the project, which is "said to be in advanced stages of development", alongside writer David Scarpa.

Litvinenko, a former KGB agent, died from poisoning in a London restaurant. He was a fierce critic of Vladmir Putin's government - he accused the President from his deathbed of murdering him - but the chief suspect, Andrey Lugovoy, was never successfully extradited to the UK.

Based on the book The Terminal Spy, by NY Times jounalist Alan Cowell, Newell's new project is one that's been coming for a long time; a true story of a strange death of a former spy? These things are perfect material for the movies.

The only odd part is the helmer (Michael Mann would seem more appropriate), but then again, the director of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is no stranger to death. After all, he killed off Robert Pattinson. And Simon Callow.

Director: Joe Johnston
Cast: Benicio Del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Hugo Weaving, Emily Blunt
Certificate: 15
Trailer

Wolfman. Benicio Del Toro. It's a great piece of casting - they don't come much wolfier than old Benicio. But even with the most hairiest of men baring his teeth at the camera, Joe Johnston's remake of the classic horror story never quite works. It's no surprise after the years of troubled production, but The Wolfman is patchy stuff. For all its gothic leanings and fondness for its furry material, this beast reeks mostly of ham. Thick, hammy slices of ham.

It was cold, it was dark - we don't blame you for not being there. But it was a classy affair when Colin Firth stepped out in Mayfair last night for the premiere of his BAFTA (and now Oscar) nominated film, A Single Man.

Detailing the grief of a bereaved college professor after his male partner passes away, it's a sad and nuanced performance from the lead man, which will see many swoon even more than before. Especially given that the film's set in the 60s and directed by fashion legend Tom Ford.

Stylish suits, glamorous dresses, shiny cars - it's a pleasure to behold the period glitz. But why wait for two weeks until the film comes out? Get your fix now with the exclusive video highlights of last night's premiere. And try not to dribble too much. Colin wouldn't approve.

Read on for the super pretty footage, or head over here to see the movie's trailer. And don't say we don't spoilt you.

"I'm feeling kind of ELECTRIC!" yelled The Cage last Thursday. Why? Because he was channeling the power surge down his right arm and into a box, which would light up the Entire City of Bath for a month. Yes, that's right. Bath.

None other than Hollywood A-Lister Nicolas Cage himself switched on Bath's Christmas lights this year. Why? Well, he's had a few houses in the area for some years now, and a local lass popped a letter through his front door asking him to the event. And he said yes.

The Oscar-winner said he was "excited and privileged" before wishing the people of Bath and Somerset (and their "beautiful community") well for the new year. Needless to say, thousands of people flocked to the town centre and screamed as The Cage lit up Bath with his snowy beard and epic charisma. They screamed so loudly that some roads had to be closed. Bet Jim Carrey didn't have that effect.

Ah, Woody Allen, hated by many and loved by me. Don't get me wrong: Match Point and Cassandra's Dream had a lot of bad points, but it's still nice to know that he's returning to London for his next project. But now this project has a title. You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger follows his brief stop in New York with Whatever Works, and will be funded by the same people who backed Vicky Cristina Barcelona (i.e. the Spanish).

Who has he selected to star this time round? You may remember some of the casting announcements, but to recap: Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Freida Pinto and Naomi Watts. Out of all of those, the only tall dark one is Banderas, but with no real plot details (the Hollywood Reporter says it "revolves around different members of a family"), it's anyone's guess. It's certainly not Woody, though.
