Martha Marcy May Marlene

Terrifying and beautiful, this might well be the best film of 2012.

Interview: James Watkins

The director of The Woman in Black and Eden Lake sits down and chats with us about horror, Daniel Radcliffe and 3D.

Review: Acts of Godfrey

84 minutes of rhyming couplets? It sounds well annoying but I actually loved it.

Review: The Descendants

Nice film, shame about the voiceover.

Tinker Tailor Whack-a-Mole

There's a mole at the top of The Circus. Can you bash its face in?

Review: Like Crazy

A superb anti-rom-com that breaks some cliches and obeys others, which only makes it more moving.

Review: Shame

A devastating, magnificent film that trades almost solely in sex – and yet looks right through it.

Review: Coriolanus

Like Olivier and Branagh before him, Fiennes makes Shakespeare as gripping as it ever was. Verily, Voldemort did good.

If Newsreaders Did Shakespeare...

Inspired by Jon Snow's role in Coriolanus, here are some other Shakespeare adaptations starring newsreaders.

Review: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

After Benjamin Button and The Social Network, this feels like Fincher back in Se7en territory. Grizzled, haunting and beautiful.

Woody at the BFI

As the BFI's season of Woody Allen films continues, we look back at some of the director's best (and worst) films.

The Artist

A feel-good treat, pure and simple. You’ll swoon, you’ll sigh, you’ll want to tap dance.

Woody Harrelson - Rampart review london film festival
Director: Oren Moverman
Cast: Woody Harrelson, Robin Wright, Anne Heche
Showtimes

"You're a racist, a bigot, a womanising chauvinist and homophobic - or you just really hate yourself." That's what Dave Brown's daughter thinks of him. A bulllish cop with an old-school tendency for violence (especially towards black people), he's a relic of the police force. You can tell that from his nickname: "Date Rape Dave".

Famed for allegedly gunning down a date rapist in cold blood, Dave spends most of his time drinking, smoking and hitting on women.

In between random beds around LA, he returns home to his two ex-wives, who are all holed up under one roof with his estranged daughters. In short, Dave is not a nice man.

Trailer

Jaimie (Kunis) has just been dumped outside Pretty Woman. Dylan (Timberlake) has been ditched over John Mayer (to be fair, I'd dump even Emma Stone over the song Your Body's a Wonderland). Will unconditional sex between the two rejected pals destroy their friendship? Probably. Have we seen this all before? Definitely.

The relationship between two friends gets complicated when they decide to get romantic in this comedy from Will Gluck, the director of Easy A.

Dylan (Justin Timberlake) and Jamie (Mila Kunis) think it’s going to be easy to add the simple act of sex to their friendship, despite what Hollywood romantic comedies would have them believe.

They soon discover, however, that getting physical really does lead to complications.

Yes, there's a sequel and yes, it'll be in 3-D. After Ruben Fleischer expressed an interest in following the funny film with another undead-bashing bloodbath, Sony have now gone ahead and signed up the same folk (Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick) to scribble a screenplay for them.

Ruben will return at the helm, as will producer Gavin Polone. He told Variety: "Everyone had fun watching the first Zombieland; making it a more visceral experience can only make it better. I don't think you want to see Ordinary People in 3-D. But Zombieland is clearly one movie that will benefit from the technique."

It'll also benefit from a lot of Woody Harrelson. Here's hoping he nuts up and shuts up a second time round.

And you thought it was all about the Olympics... No, 2012 spells nothing less than the end of the world. From Roland Emmerich, director of Independence Day and The Day after Tomorrow, this is the king of disaster doing what he does best. A cataclysmic apocalypse, tearing the globe in two, 2012 sees John Cusack struggling to survive the horrific event. And what better way to watch his survival than in the comfort of your own un-destroyed home?

It's not out until Friday 13th November, but here are two new clips for Roland Emmerich's destruction fest. One shows Woody Harrelson predicting the doom of humanity. The other? Well, as you'd expect from such an epic movie, there are bound to be a few hairy moments. And so, naturally, it makes sense that 2012 features possibly The Craziest Car Chase of All Time. Watch it: it's incredibly daft and insanely spectacular. The full trailer's over in our videos section, or read on for the clips...

Director: Ruben Fleischer
Cast: Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin
Certificate: 15
Trailer

"The first girl I let into my life and she tries to eat me." Such is the life of nerdy pathetic Columbus (Eisenberg), a loner who avoided humans just as much before the zombie plague wiped out most of the United States. Now, surviving on his own paranoid instincts (Rule#2: Beware of Bathrooms), he's just undead fodder waiting to be undeaded.
